Funeral Leaflet

Gene was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska on November 24th, 1935. He traveled to Washington County with his mother Claire and two-year-old brother Duane where his mother would work as a nanny.

Gene attended school in Blair. Before and after school Gene would do chores and help with farming. After graduating from High School in 1954 he took on many jobs, such as welding at Kelly Ryan farm equipment, a mechanic at the Blair bus barn and running Neilsen Oil and Propane Station. Gene was also a truck driver and enjoyed traveling and seeing most of America in doing so. Gene participated in the River City Roundup trail ride for 26 years. After retiring from Bomgaars, Gene spent a lot of his time hunting, fishing and trapping. Fishing was by far his favorite. being out on the river with the sun beating down on him was indeed the perfect day, and a temperature of 90 plus degrees made it even better. Gene enjoyed being around friends and family, just sitting around telling stories, and maybe a few small lies about the size of his fish. Gene is survived by his sons: Tim (Michelle) Andersen and Todd Andersen; brothers: Duane Andersen and Dale (Brenda) Andersen; sisters: Helen (Clarence) Sheets and Alice Plummer; brother-in-law Kenny Truhlsen, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as a great-great-grandson, many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
