Helen V. Ani, 59, longtime area resident
Helen V. Ani, 59, died suddenly Tuesday morning, Aug. 19, 2003, at Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Ani was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Portland, Ore., to Elnathan Davis and Minnie Menard Davis as the oldest of nine siblings. Her early childhood, until age 6, was spent in Beatty, Ore., with her formative years being in Klamath Falls, Ore. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and Sacred Heart High School in Klamath Falls.
After high school she continued her education by procuring vocational studies at a local community college.
Mrs. Ani married Robert Ani in the early 1960s, with that relationship ending in divorce some years later. As a single parent, Helen worked in the computer technology field for the last 15 years of her life.
Helen raised her three children in Klamath Falls, always attending to their needs with much love and care. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church, attending Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Portland, Ore. She also served diligently as an Elder in the Confederated Grand Ronde Tribe.
Among her many gifts and talents, Helen was an avid reader who loved astronomy, and was a master game player of all sorts of card or table games.
Survivors include her mother, Minnie Davis, of Klamath Falls; daughter Winona Rempel of Denver, Colo.; son Warren Ani of Portland, Ore.; daughter Monica Ani of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brothers, Marvin Davis of Waianae, Hawaii, Al Davis of Klamath Falls, Pete Davis of Klamath Falls, Mark Davis of Klamath Falls, Paul Davis of McMinnville, Ore., sisters, Minnie Kay Herbert of Klamath Falls, Ruth Davis and Ruby Davis of Portland, Ore.; two grandsons, Ted Rempel of Hilo, Hawaii, and Chris Rempel of Denver, Colo.; one granddaughter, April Rempel of Denver, Colo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A public viewing was held Saturday, Aug. 23, along with a Rosary/Vigil Service. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday of this week. It was followed by a private family interment at the Grand Ronde Cemetery in Grand Ronde, Ore.
Remembrances in Mrs. Ani's name might be made to the Center for Peace in Hillsboro, Ore.
Arrangements were entrusted to Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary (503-648-3158) in Hillsboro.
