BURDEN'S OLDEST CITIZEN SUCCUMBS
Mrs. Amelia Cheever, 98, oldest resident of the Burden community, died Wednesday at 10:34 a.m. at Newton Memorial Hospital. She entered the hospital May 6 for medical treatment.
Mrs. Cheever was born in Ohio May 15, 1855, then went to Missouri where she was married to Davis D. Cheever, Dec. 1, 1872. They came to the Burden community in 1896 and had resided there since. Mr. Cheever died Feb. 20, 1920. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Palmer, Ill.
Surviving are two children, Mrs. Ed Lawrence of Burden and Charles O. Cheever of Monrovia, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, north of Burden, and burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The Rev. Shaw will officiate and Miles Mortuary will be in charge.
