John Thomas Hulette, age 57, of Joplin, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 04, 2007 at Freeman West Hospital.
Mr. Hulette was born February 19, 1950 in Joplin to the late Johnnie Hulette and Leona (Hauser) Hulette and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
John worked as a contractor sales representative for the former Payless Cashways, Inc. and Meeks Lumber Company for a combined twenty years. He was a songwriter and musician, and promoted the band, ‘Southern Pride'. He was a member of the Joplin Corvette Club and the local musicians union. He loved to fish and was a longtime member of Greenwood Baptist Church, Joplin, where he was baptized in 2001 and helped to build the new sanctuary. John worked at the ranch, where he was a prominent fixture and went by the name of ‘Big John'. He was a true friend and was very well known for his kind heart and generosity.
Services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Skip Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Kenny Bottoroff, Bobby Mills, David Val, Roger English, Harold Moore, John Riley, David Blank, and Bobby Blank, and Michael Moore.
He married Vickie Skaggs on December 25, 1981 in Webb City. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Cassie M. Jankowski; granddaughter, Brittany N. Hulette; two brothers, Ron Hulette and Lonnie Paul Hulette; and two sisters, Marla Tallman and Sherri Russell; and several other extended family members and many friends.
