Sarah Mudd, also known as Sallie, was the daughter of Ambrose Mudd and his first wife Letty Hayse. After her mother's death, she became the step-daughter of Mary Ann Renfrow Bratcher, the widow of William D. Bratcher, and the step-sister of Anthony, William H., Malinda and Cassandra Bratcher. She married Anthony Bratcher after the 1870 Census of Caneyville, Grayson County, Kentucky. Anthony and Sarah's oldest son, who was named Ambrose after his maternal grandfather, was born on December 10, 1874 and died of croup 11 months later on September 28, 1875. The children appearing in the 1880 census with Anthony and Sarah were Virgil, age 4, and Olivia, age 1. Their son Aber G. was born April 28, 1881. Anthony died on June 25, 1932 at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 29 days. Sarah followed him in death on March 3, 1939. Their son Aber G. died on May 25 1966. All three of them are buried in the Layman Memorial Cemetery in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky.
