| Birth: | Jan. 26, 1847 Canton Madison County Mississippi, USA | | Death: | Dec. 20, 1931 Calvert Robertson County Texas, USA |  US Congressman. During the Civil War he served in the Confederate Army as a member of the Harvey Scouts, part of Major General W.H. Jackson's division. After the war he was admitted to the bar, practiced law and moved to Calvert, Texas in 1872. From 1878 to 1882, he was prosecuting attorney of Robertson County, served in the State Senate from 1887 to 1891, and was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1892. In 1903 he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses, serving until 1907. Not a candidate for reelection, he resumed law practice and engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death.
