| Birth: | 1848 Chicago Cook County Illinois, USA | | Death: | Nov. 13, 1881 New York, USA | Mary Frances McVicker, actress, (her birth surname was Runnion) died at the home of her step-father, James Hubert McVicker, 13 West 53rd Street, New York City. Her step-father was the proprietor of McVicker's Theatre in Chicago; she began her acting career at the age of 10, but retired from the stage shortly after her marriage. Apparently her talent was minimal although she did perform frequently until age 18.
She married actor Edwin Booth on 2 June 1869; her grandfather Rev. B. F. Myers performed the wedding ceremony. She and Edwin Booth had a child in July 1870, a son Edgar, but he died shortly after birth, and there were never any other children.
Her health began failing while in Europe where her husband was touring and it was recommended that she return home immediately. She began more unstable and died at the home of her mother and step-father. She was buried in Chicago.
