Robert Knievel was born in Butte, Montana. He was a motorcycle daredevil whose daring and highly publicized motorcycle jumps, including attempting to jump over the Snake River canyon, made him a household name. Despite suffering a series of major injuries during stunts, he had a long career in stunt riding. He is immortalized in Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil." His son, Robbie "Kaptain" Knievel, has carried on in his father's daredevil footsteps as a motorcycle stunt entertainer. (bio by: Fred Beisser)
