Paula A. Rust, 85, of St. Paul, Minn., died Nov. 8 at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minn. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cumberland, with the Rev. Stephen Miller officiating and burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
Mrs. Rust was born Oct. 3, 1922 to Walter and Adele (Koch) Going. She spoke fluent German. On March 29, 1943 she married Roland Rust in Cumberland, and they moved to St. Paul after Mr. Rust returned from military service in WW II. Mrs. Rust was a meat wrapper for many years until a job-related injury caused chronic pain that made her unable to work. The couple enjoyed traveling to visit relatives, and Mrs. Rust enjoyed working in and around the house and also volunteered at her church. She and her husband were one of six couples that founded Divinity Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Muehlfeld of Wauwautosa and Susan Berthiaume of St. Paul; a daughter-in-law, Marcia Rust of Hastings, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Norbert of Cedarburg; and a sister, Ruth Gutzman of Shoreview, Minn.
Mrs. Rust's husband, Roland, died July 25, 2002. Her son, Larry, also preceded her in death. [Published 14 Nov 2007 in The Chronotype, Rice Lake, WI/]
