Mrs. Ruth Huffman Brown, age 84, of Purlear, widow of C. M. Brown, Jr. died Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Britthaven Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born in Wilkes County, September 6, 1921, to Everette Monroe and Selma Eller Huffman. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a former church librarian. Mrs. Brown was a secretary and bookkeeper with the Wilkes County Public Library. She was a member of the Millers Creek Home Demonstration Club where she was past president and regional director.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Greene and Maxine Church.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one daughter, Norma Byrd and her husband, Dean of Purlear; one son, David G. Brown and his wife, Kathy of Purlear; four sisters, Kate Huffman, Betty Church, Loretta Estes, Patricia Minton all of Wilkesboro; four brothers, Wayne Huffman, Ray Huffman, N. C. Huffman, Loyd Huffman all of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
