| Birth: | Mar. 9, 1917 Bridgehampton Suffolk County New York, USA | | Death: | Nov. 28, 1998 Clearwater Pinellas County Florida, USA |  US Congressman. He was a lawyer in practice in Florida, when commissioned a Captain in the US Army, serving in the African, Sicilian and Italian campaigns during World War II. After the war he was legal attaché to the State Legislative Delegation from Dade County from 1947 to 1950 and a member of the Florida State House of Representatives from 1950 to 1954. In 1955 he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fourth Congress and to the eighteen succeeding Congresses, serving until 1993. He also served as the delegate to represent the United States at the Twenty-fourth General Assembly of the United Nations in 1969. Fascell was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton in 1998. He died of cancer. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
