Josephine Russian (nee Sularz), 79, of Sheffield Lake died Monday at Cleveland Clinic after a long illness.

Born in Yardanov, Poland, she lived 35 years in Pennsylvania and 10 years in Cleveland before moving to Sheffield Lake 25 years ago.

Mrs. Russian was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church Ladies Guild, Sheffield Lake, and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Survivors include daughters, Louise Midlik of Cleveland, Dolores Miller of Maryland, Janet Breeds and Donna Bognar, both of Sheffield Lake, and Albina Rausch of Rocky River; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Monica Brosczyk of Sheffield Lake, Isobel Koscso of Maple Heights and Irene Church of Monroe.

Mrs. Russian was preceded in death by her husband, John F., in 1985 after 54 years of marriage; and by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. today at Burmeister Funeral Services, Busch Family Chapel, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake, where 3 p.m. rosary services will be conducted by St. Thomas Ladies Guild.

Services will be Thursday 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by 10 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas Church. The Rev. John McCaffrey, pastor, will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
