Services for Ralph Allison, 75, of Portales, will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 26, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Portales with Rev. Jeff Symonds officiating. Burial will follow in the Inez Cemetery with Cody Trujillo, Yosef Morris, Jeremy Krueger, Zane Allison, Seth Allison, Sann Allison, Wendell Belcher and Alan Belcher serving as pallbearers and remaining grandchildren will accompany. Harold Belcher, Dick Belcher, Jerry Belcher, Nathan Belcher, Tex Belcher, Lloyd Belcher, Bob Estep, Robert Morgan, Virgil Tivis, Loyd Tivis, Butch Gardner, Elton Brown, Alvin Smith, Bill Dally, Dan Paxton along with the Vista Care Hospice Staff will serve as honorary pallbearers. Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to either Vista Care Foundation, c/o 2708 N. Prince St., Clovis, NM 88101 or to the First United Methodist Church in Portales.
Ralph Alvin Allison was born June 19, 1932, in Dalhart, TX to Edith and Robert F. Allison, and died Wednesday evening, November 21, 2007, at his home south of Portales. Ralph moved to this area in 1949, and attended school at Floyd, Portales and Rogers. It was while in school in Rogers that he met LaDoris Belcher, and the couple was married August 17, 1952, at the First Methodist Church in Portales. Shortly after their marriage he entered the Army, and served for two years. During that time he spent one tour of duty in Korea. After returning home, Ralph worked in Sudan and Levelland before returning to Portales to farm in 1961. He was a charter member of the Roosevelt County Water Co-op, and served on the County Fair Board. Ralph was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a hard working man who took little time out for play. However, in recent years he and his wife had enjoyed square dancing and round dancing.
He is survived by LaDoris, his wife of more than 55 years of their home; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Kay and Michael "Mick" Trujillo of Abuquiu, NM; three sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin "Kent" and Ruthie Allison of Weatherford, TX, Randall Wain and Sandy Allison of Canyon, TX, and Timothy Tadd and Jo Allison of Portales; 13 grandchildren, David Peel, Jeremy and Brooke Krueger, Cody Trujillo and Allison Trujillo-Morris, Zain, Seth, Sann, Mesa, Treet, Ayse, Sara and Reda Allison; and a sister, Linda Eckard of Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, R. E., Jack, Gene and Jimmy Allison.
