Elizabeth, "Miss Betty," grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas. As a young career woman, she met her beloved Curtis, whom she married in 1950. As a stay at home mother, she was active in her children's school functions serving as room mother, teacher's aid, and on numerous PTAs in a variety of offices including president. Miss Betty enjoyed working in a wide array of handcraft mediums. From painting, glazing and firing of ceramics to intricate hand sewn Christmas decorations for her home and as gifts to those she loved. She will best be remembered for her extensive efforts as a tireless volunteer. Although she volunteered in many settings her pride was her work as a floral designer, which spanned nearly forty years, including time at Wadley Hospital of Texarkana, TX and Schumpert Medical Center of Shreveport.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Curtis Earnest, her daughter Curtistine Earnest of Shreveport, her son Danny Earnest of Dallas and her brother Tommy Burns of Naples, Italy.
Each is grateful for the care and love she had for them. The entire staff at the Bradford nursing facility provided gracious love and care to Miss Betty and her family while she was a resident for which the family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to the First Baptist Church, Waskom, Texas Building Fund.
