Catherine was the daughter of John and Margaret Sutherland who were both born in Scotland.
She was born in the Selkirk Settlement in Canada.
She married 1st to David W. Perrine.
She married 2nd on June 6, 1866, to Frederick W. Yerian.
They were living in Scotch Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa, in 1870. He was a farmer.
In 1880 they were in Monticello, Jones County, Iowa.

Mrs. Catharine Yerian
Catharine Betherland was born in Manitobe, Canada, Sept 28, 1886, and passed away at her home in Webber Kans., Aug 24, 1921, aged 84 years, 10 months and 26 days.
At the age of two years, with her parents, she came to Scotch Grove, Jones county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood.
At the age of nine years she united with the Presbyterian church; there being no Presbyterian church where she lived she united with the M.E. church at Courtland.
She was married to David W. Perrine November 16, 1858, who died in the service of his country, Feb. 27, 1863. To this union two daughters were born.
June 6, 1866, she was married to Frederick W. Yerian, who died September 29, 1892.
To them were born seven children, Charles H. and Sarah M. dying in infancy.
In the year of 1871 she came to Jewell county, Kansas, where they homesteaded and lived for four years, and returned to Iowa. In 1855 she, with her husband and children came to Republic county, Kansas, where she lived, near and in Courtland for 31 years. In 1916 she, with her son moving Webber, Kansrs(sic).
She leaves to mourn her loss seven children: Flora A. Stevenson, Minneapolis, Minn.;Emma F. Stevenson, Clinton, Iowa; Anna A. Houghton, Courtland, Kans.; Catharine E. Oswalt, Leavenworth, Kansas; Frederick J. Yerian, Webber, Kansas; Jessie E. Miller, De Soto Kans., and George M. Yerian, Jameston, Kans.
Besides the children there are fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The surviving children were all present at the funeral except Mrs. Emma Steveson, who was sick.
Services were held at the Yerian home in Webber at 10 o;clock Saturday morning. The body ws brought to Courtland and the funeral held from the M.C.Church at 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
Rev. D.R.Laport assisted by Elder W.P. Jewell conducting the service.
Mrs. C.V. Gundy, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Diehl and Haber(?) R. Johnson sang. The floral (?)
were many and beautiful especially those from Bossemey Bros.
The body was laid to rest in the family lot in Courtland Cemetery.
