Richard was the son of Richard and Mary (Marvin) Bushnell. On Dec. 7, 1672, he married Elizabeth Adgate, daughter of Thomas. Elizabeth was family, since his mother married Thomas Adgate after his father died. (Elizabeth was a daughter of Thomas by his first wife, so there was no blood relationship.)
