Victor E. Lang, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at his home in Dighton.
He was born Oct. 14, 1933, in Great Bend, to Howard Raymond and Edith Fern North Lang, and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Dighton High School in 1952.
After enlisting in the U.S. Army, he served in the 14th Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to Dighton and then moved in 1961 to California, where he worked in research and development for Babcock Electronics. He loved his work with computers and electronics. In 1971, he returned to Kansas and continued with his work in the electronics field. He loved to take his family on vacations and camping was a regular weekend event. He was a member of First Christian Church of Dighton and American Legion Post No. 190.
In 1956, he married Sachiko Kumagai in Tokyo. She died Feb. 3, 1998. He also was preceded in death by his father and a brother, David Lang.
Survivors include a son, Gene Lang of Wichita; two daughters, Juanita Scharnhorst of Wichita, and Gale McGee of Muskogee, Okla.; his mother, of Scott City; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Rev. David Randall officiating. Burial was in Dighton Memorial Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 190 Honor Guard.
