Waxhaw, N. C., Aug. 28. - Mrs. Mary Jane McCain of Waxhaw, wife of the late Col. W. J. McCain, died a her home last Thursday. She was 78 years of age and a consist member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by her grandson, the Rev. C. W. McMurray, assisted by her pastor, the Rev. G. B. Thompson, and also by the Rev. D. C. Ballard and the Rev. J. S. Hood. The body was laid to rest in the Waxhaw cemetery at 4 o'clock Friday.
Mrs. McCain was a woman of influence and character and will be greatly missed in the community. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. L. Billue and Mrs. Caroline Simpson; one daughter, Miss Laura McCain of Waxhaw and five sons, J. W., J. E., G. A., Dr. W. R. McCain of Waxhaw, N. C., and Dr. H. W. McCain of High Point, N. C.
