Charles Marion Bowen, son of Isaac and Sarah J Linn Bowen, being at the time of his death 75 years, 9 months and 8 days old.
When he was quite a young man,(December 24, 1876), he was married to Susie Jacques (Jaques). To this union two children were born, Lester, who passed away in July 1931, and another (Hirem Edger) who died in infancy. The young wife soon followed to the Great Beyond.
After some years he was married to Mrs. Ellen Briggs Lawson (July 13, 1884). To this union were born five children, Mrs. Myrtle Surratt, Mrs. Iva DeWitt, Robert and Tim of Brown County and Harvey of Leoti, Kansas. There are also six stepchildren, Samuel Lawson of Beardstown, Willie Lawson and Emma Goodwin of Quincy, Seymore Lawson and Charles Lawson of Brown County and Sarilda Lawson, who passed away some years ago at Chapin, Ill. There are also thirty grandchildren and seventeen great-grand children, besided a host of other relatives and friends left to mourn his passing. He is the last of a family of seven children. Mr. Bowen will be greatly missed by his neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. E. O. England, pastor of the Methodist Church and burial was made in the City Cemetery.
