Dubbed the "Bronx Barrymore," he won a Tony award for his stage role in "You Know I Can't Hear You When the Water's Running." He appeared in numerous movies, including "Psycho," and "A Thousand Clowns," for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. His hundreds of television appearances included a regular role as Carroll O'Connor's business partner in "Archie Bunker's Place."
