Humphry Repton
Birth: May 2, 1752
Death: Mar. 24, 1818

One of the most notable English landscape gardeners, who broke away from the formal style of his teacher 'Capability' Brown. Worked on many estates and remodelled Kensignton Gsrdens in London. His work was also influential throughout Europe. He is buried as requested outside the church in a small garden under the epitaph he wrote: Not like Egyptian Tyrants consecrate Unmixed with others shall my dust remain But mold'ring, blending, melting into Earth. Mine shall give from and colour to the Rose And while its vivid colours cheer Mankind, Its perfumed odours shall ascend to Heaven. (bio by: David Conway)
