David Wayne Hooks, age 15, was the son of Charles Guy Hooks, Jr., and Irma Walden. He died when he was piloting the family's private aircraft under the supervision of a flight instructor and it crashed in a field near the small Houston Northwest Airport near Tomball. The airport was originally the site of a runway constructed by his father for his own personal use and later open to the public in the 1960's after a main runway and terminal were added. The airport was renamed David Wayne Hooks Airport after David's death.
David is entombed in the Hooks family mausoleum room with his grandparents, Charles Guy Hooks, Sr., and Aurora Ann Coleman Hooks.
