Elijah is the brother of Silas Eytchison. They both were born in North Carolina and Elijah came to Clay County, IL in 1841. He first came to Lawrence County, Indiana with his family in 1830 and then relocated.
Silas is buried at the Old Union Cemetery.
The names are spelled different ways, but the same family. Their brother known as James Atchison of Lawrence County had a son named William Riley and he is buried in the Fields Cemetery of Clay County.
There is a sister named Letita Allgood and her husband James that are lost. One report said she died in Clay City, IL.
Altogether there were thirteen children in this family.
