Original name: James Anderson Smythe
Birth: May 28, 1849
Death: May 31, 1918

Indian Wars Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Eenlisting under the name of "James Anderson", he served during the Wars with the Plains Indians a Private in Company M, 6th United States Calvary. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Wichita River, Texas on October 5, 1870. His citation reads ""gallantry during the pursuit and fight with Indians." (bio by: Connie Nisinger)
