Danish Actor. After a short acting career on the stage, he made his début as a film actor in 1910 in "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and was immediately hired by the Danish film company, Nordisk Film, which at the time was the dominating silent film producer on the European continent. His first film for Nordisk Film studio was shot in 1911, and during the next six years he appeared in 83 films, making him an international film idol admired by audiences all over the world, and particularly in Germany, Russia and Hungary. In Brazil he was voted the most popular male film star. Soon after his first film he became the company's highest paid actor, but at the end of 1916 he chose to break with Nordisk Film studios in order to establish his own film company. However, before the company had really started he suddenly died, at the age of 32 years and at the summit of his career.
