Anna Mae Reams was born on Friday, December 4, 1914, in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of George Dewitt and Edith K. (Richardson) Burnett. A lifelong resident, Anna Mae made her home in Ottawa, until her death on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the age of ninety-one years.
Anna Mae attended Ottawa schools.
She worked about thirty years as a seamstress for H.D. Lee in Ottawa, retiring in 1974.
Anna Mae was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa.
Mrs. Reams loved to care for her flower garden and read. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and created many lovely items to be cherished by her family and friends. Her main love, however, has been her children and grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy.
On January 17, 1933, Anna Mae was united in marriage with Leo A. Leecy in Lawrence, Kansas. They were later divorced. In 1965, she married Charles C. Reams.
Mrs. Reams is survived by two daughters, Barbara Lee Bennett and her husband, Willard, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kay K. Todd and her husband, Mark, of Ottawa; sister, Laverne Shelton of Derby, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brad Bennett of Andover, Bruce Bennett of Hutchinson, Lori Myers of Lawrence, Randy Reed of Shawnee, Tony Reed of Ottawa, Jeff Reed of Ottawa; thirteen great-grandchildren, Darby Bennett of Pittsburg, Jared Bennett of Hutchinson, Melissa Bennett of Hutchinson, Lindsay Mallard of Salina, Tabitha Ellis of Andover, Dustin Myers of Shawnee, Devon Myers of Lawrence, Austin Reed of Leavenworth, Chase Reed of Ottawa, Garrett Reed of Ottawa, Cole Reed of Ottawa, Brock Reed of Ottawa, Kelsey Bennett of Andover; and two great-great-granddaughters, Haley Myers of Ottawa, and Peyton Mallard of Salina.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Grace Honn, Hazel Porter, two infant, and brother, George Burnett.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be at Hope Cemetery in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2006.
IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Reams after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
