Dec 16th 1891
Another year is passed & gone and I am too sad to write tonight. Mama & Little darling Winnie both gone & Earth does [not] seem like the same place to us now since our first born little birdling [sic] has been taken from us. Oh God this is the hardest trial of our lives. I can't write as I ought to tonight. God have mercy on us all.
