Milo lived his childhood five miles north of Lemmon, South Dakota on a farm and ranch in Adams County, North Dakota. He attended school in the North Lemmon Consolidated School System. Milo worked for area ranchers before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1958. He underwent training in San Diego and was assigned to the USS Hancock CVA-19. He was dispatched to Japan, Okinawa and Guam. After serving four years, he received an honorable discharge in 1962. Milo returned to his hometown area and again worked for farmers and ranchers, and Lemmon Livestock and Construction. In 1966, he moved to Fairview, Oklahoma looking for work and was employed in the oil fields. He met and married Faye (Griffin) Vick in 1968 at Fairview. Milo was self-employed for over 30 years, in Fairview, as a contract pumper. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Enid. After his retirement in 2002, he discovered many other interests and hobbies of which he was previously unaware. Milo enjoyed bird watching, feeding the birds, and making bird feeders. Gardening vegetables and flowers became a big interest to him.
Milo is survived by his wife Faye of nearly 40 years, of Fairview; one son, Dustin Hoffman, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Beverly and Dennis Dye of Woodward, Donna and Jonathan Danielson of Beaumont, Texas; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Roland and Karol Hoffman and Rick Hoffman, all of Lemmon, South Dakota and one sister, Diana and Don Heinitz of Morristown, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milbert in February 1987 and Pauline in September 1987.
Funeral Services for Milo Morris Hoffman, 69, of Fairview, will be Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Fairview First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
