Roger Greene Carpenter age 37, a Winona resident and Montgomery County native died Sunday April 13, 1986 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness.

The retired employee of Anel Engineering was a member and deacon at Scotland Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Memorial services were conducted Monday April 14 from Scotland Baptist Church at 2 pm. The Rev. Danny Bryant assisted by the Rev. John A. Wade conducted services. Burial was in Scotland Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lourdes Demillo Carpenter of Winona, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Owens E. Carpenter of Winona. Three daughters, Miss Vivian Carol Carpenter, Miss Norma Lynn Carpenter, and Miss Laura Jean Carpenter all of Winona. A sister Mrs. Evelyn C. Williams of Hickory, MS. Three brothers, Rufus Carpenter, Douglas Mack Carpenter and Wilson Owen Carpenter Sr. all of Winona.

Pallbearers were Benny Montague, Wayne McCorkle, Rowland Walker, Vernon Austin, Billy Armstrong, Bruce Branch, J.E. Woods, and Bobby Oliver.

Honorary pallbearers and inactive deacons were Richard Weed, Allen Weed, Harold Waller, Eugene Hathcock, James Latham, Grady Nail, and Owens E. Carpenter. Oliver Funeral Home handled arrangements.
