Gertrude J. Martin, 91, Macomb, formerly of Lansing, died at 9:51 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of John and Emma (Hoffman) Van Tamelen.
She married Herman Martin on May 5, 1941, in Hammond, Ind. He preceded her in death Aug. 16, 2007.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Ken) Loquist, Macomb, one son; John (Kristin) Martin, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; six grandchildren, Kara Loquist, Chicago, Kate (John) Harvey, Bolingbrook, Andrew Loquist, Chicago, Summer Martin, Los Angeles, Calif., Amber Martin, Oxnard, Calif. and BU3 Richard Martin, Oxnard, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel, Emma and Sarah Harvey, all of Bolingbrook.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Esther Hewit.
She lived most of her life in Lansing before moving to Macomb in 2005.
She was a member of the Lansing Presbyterian Church. She was a Cub Scout leader, election judge, played the church organ and did bookkeeping.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church, Macomb, with Elder Gene Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday, at the church.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Village.
