Mrs. R. E. Buck Claimed By Death

Mrs. R. E. Buck, beloved mother and grandmother, died at Purple Hills Nursing Home March 28, 1973, at the age of 90, where she had been a resident for a number of years.

Jennie Caldwell Buck was born in Center Point, Texas, on March 27, 1883, the daughter of Hughy Huffman Caldwell and Viethy Surber Caldwell. She was happily married on May 10, 1899, to Robert E. Buck at Pipe Creek. She had lived at Center Point, Winans Creek and Bandera. She was the daughter of early pioneer family of Bandera and Kerr County.

Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 1965. Two sons, Arthur and Raymond, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Buck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bandera where she attended for many years. She reared a fine family of sons and daughters as well as three of her grandchildren, Lester Buck of Kerrville, Mrs. Dorothy Stark and Mrs. Janette Patton of San Antonio. She was loved and highly esteemed for her kindness and good works.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Mae Edmundson of Buchanan Dam and Mrs. Lorien Allsup of Medina; two sons, Loris Buck of Bryan and Claude Buck of LaPorte; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren who deeply grieve her passing.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 30, 1973, at 2 p.m. from Plummer Funeral Home with Rev. J. Manley Reynolds, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Richard Porche, pastor of Medina Baptist Church. She was laid to rest in the Pipe Creek Cemetery by the side of her beloved husband.

Casket carriers who carried her to her last resting place were Homer Mansfield, of Junction, Raymond Smith, Raymond Pawvlik of Bandera, Richard Fitzgerald and Harley Odom of Pipe Creek and Earl Buck of Boerne.

Honorary pallbearers were Tom Carpenter, R. E. Adams, Earl Blackstock, Orville Wier of Medina; Ed Welch, Olan Buck, Raymond Hicks, and Paul Dry of Bandera; Adolph Schott of Pipe Creek and Jess McKiddy of Junction.

Plummer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
