Mrs. Idell Elizabeth Minchew Boatright, 89, passed away quietly and serenely Saturday (October 27, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Delessie N. Minchew and Emma Jane Griner Minchew of Ware County. She was a homemaker, substitute teacher at Rockingham School in Bacon County, mother of nine children and owner of an automobile and rental business. She was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her family was her life. She loved to take her daughters to places of fun and interest. She sewed for them and helped them decorate their rooms. She delighted in going to family reunions with her family and to church activities that were held during the week. When the children got old enough to play in the band or were majorettes, she would go to the places where they performed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Deen Boatright; a daughter, Shelia Ann Boatright; granddaughter, Angelina Coursey Pierce; her brothers, Archie Minchew, Clarence Minchew, Ottis Minchew, Edwin Minchew, Mark Minchew, and Clyde Minchew; and her sisters, Ozelle Minchew Sports and Thelma Minchew Spivey.
Survivors include her children, Edwin Boatright (wife Betty) of Waycross, Katherina B. Coursey of Waycross, Patricia B. Dutton (husband Tommy) of Tucker, Deena Boatright of Green Cove Springs, FL, Andrea Banduras of Atlanta, Greggory Boatright (wife Joanna) of Oviedo, FL, and Bruce Boatright (wife Diane) of Waycross; 23 grandchildren, Kenneth Boatright of Harriett's Bluff, Crystal Boatright of Marietta, Tina B. Walker (husband Leonard) of Lawrenceville, Cindy B. Altman (husband Steve) of Waycross, Ginger B. Roberson of Waycross, Angelita Coursey Dyal (husband Mitchell) of Baxley, Shawn Coursey of Atlanta, Misty Dutton Simpson of Atlanta, Tommy Dutton of Atlanta, Kerry Nichols, Kristen Nichols, Brett Nichols, Cherish Gilmore Harrison of Atlanta, Summer Gilmore of Atlanta, Billie Jean Gilmore of Atlanta, Andy Boatright of Oviedo, FL, Christina Boatright of Oviedo, FL, Greggory Boatright of Oviedo, FL, Sabrina B. Tuttle of Waycross, Kelly Boatright, Patricia Boatright, Christopher Boatright (wife Sue Ann), Joey Boatright of Waycross; 17 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ethel Minchew Taylor of Alma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday (October 31, 2007) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma. The family will receive friends 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.
The Relief Society women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are asked to meet 9:30 a.m. at the church to serve as honorary pallbearers.
