Jennie Rachel Morrow Catron, a native of Somerset, Kentucky, was born on Main Street February 22, 1916. She was the only daughter of the late Wilson Boyd Morrow and Florence Stecker Morrow. Her brothers Walt and Charles Morrow preceded her in death. She graduated from Somerset High School Class of 1934, Bowling Green Business University Class of 1937 and attended the University of Miami. Thereafter, she worked in her father's law office until her marriage. She was married to Harold Lewis Catron, Sr. in 1941. Mr. Catron went on to become Somerset Fire Chief and Somerset City Police Chief ( a position he held for 15 years until his death in 1964).

Their marriage was blessed with four children – Mellie Rachel who preceded her in death; Harold Lewis Catron, Jr,; Samuel Wilson Catron (Sheriff of Pulaski County for 18 years until his assassination in 2002); and Nancy Elizabeth Catron, a resident of Annapolis, Maryland.

Mrs. Catron was a devoted community volunteer in many capacities over the years including President of the Business and Professional Women's Club 1938 to 1940 (first president to serve consecutive terms), Publications Chairman, Business & Professional Women's Club State Convention 1939, President Business and Professional Women's District 1939; Member Gold Star Wives 1983; Secretary Porter Hopkins PTA 1963; President Central Junior High PTA 1967; Youth Fellowship Leader First Presbyterian Church 1966; Member Pulaski Outdoorsman Club 1965 to 1968; Member Pulaski County Republican Women's Club 1976 to 2005 as fourth Vice President 1984, Corresponding Secretary 1985, Second Vice President 1978, President 1982 and 1983, Historian 1975 to 1977; Daughters of the American Revolution 1970 to 2007 and Historian 1975 to 1977, Flag Chairman 1977 to 1980, First Vice Regent 1980 to 1983, Chaplain 1977 to 1980, Past Chapter Regent 1995 to 1998, Past Chapter Treasurer, Past Chapter Librarian (1998 to 2004); Red Cross Volunteer 1970 to 1974 As Disaster Worker 1974, 1980, 1984, Director Services Military Families Lake Cumberland Chapter 1974 and 1975, Administrative Assistant Red Cross Lake Cumberland Area Chapter 1973 to 1974; Boy Scouts - Publicity Chairman Cub Scouts 1962, Committee Member Cub Scouts 1972; Girl Scouts member first Girl Scout Troop in Somerset, Day Camp Registrar 1969 to 1970, Day Camp Instructor 1967, 1968, and 1977, Director Day Camp 1970, 1971, and 1972, Troop Leader and Assistant Leader, Junior Cadettes, Seniors, Assistant with Brownie Troop 1948, Area Delegate to Council 1969 thru 1972, Service Unit Chairman 1970 to 1972, awarded Thanks Badge 1972; and member Somerset Pulaski County Rescue Squad for over 25 years (and held the position of Secretary).

She has been actively involved in her husband's campaign for police chief as well as her son Sam's campaigns for Sheriff of Pulaski County ( a position he held for 18 years), as well as the statewide political arena when she was in her early adult years.

She is survived by her son Lewis (and Carol) Catron, her daughter Nancy Catron, three grandchildren (Tina, Cameron, Shannon), and two great grand children (beloved Jessica and new great grandson Sam).
