Samuel Christy married 30 August 1853 Bartholomew co., Indiana to Mary White b. 6 February 1834, Ireland; d. 22 November 1925, Arkansas. In April the regiment was in the brigade detailed to guard 240 wagons back to Pine Bluff, upon which expedition was the battle of Marks' Mills occured and the regiment was captured. About 100 of the 36th left behind were in the battle of Jenkins' Ferry. Those of the regiment who were not captured remained at Little Rock till early in March, 1865, when they were removed to St. Charles on the White River, and in May, to Devaill's Bluff, where they were mustered out Aug. 24, 1865.
