Lee Hayes Found Late Friday in Pasture Near His Home – Services Today

Services for Lee Hayes, 60, Dunlap, who was found dead late Friday in a pasture near his home, were this morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Dunlap United Methodist Church.

Burial was in the Dunlap Cemetery. Kendall Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Thomas Butcher, Lyon county coroner, said autopsy results showed Mr. Hayes was a victim of a heart attack.

Mr. Hayes was a farmer and stockman. He was a custodian and bus driver for Garfield School here and formerly had held that position at Dunlap Grade School. He had served the two schools more than 30 years.

Born March 31, 1925, at Emporia, he was a son of William and Bessie (Atkinson) Hayes.

Mr. Hayes was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Men's Brotherhood, and the widely known Dunlap Quartet, all at Dunlap.

His marriage to Glenda Lee was August 31, 1945, at Dunlap. She survives.

Surviving also are three daughters and two sons, Larry Hayes and wife Betty, Emporia; Jerry Hayes and wife JoAnn, Dunlap; Mrs. Debbie (Richard) Roberts, Harveyville, Mrs. Ginger (Glen) Wessel, Emporia, and Mrs. Becky Walker, Augusta, Maine; two sisters, Mrs. Erma Edwards, Dunlap, and Mrs. LaVerna Kufahl, Overland Park; three brothers, George Hayes, Dunlap; Wayne Hayes, Council Grove, and Wilbur Hayes, Bushing, and eight grandchildren.
