Mary Elizabeth Blankenship, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born March 18, 1927, at Brookland to the late C.O. and Clara Belle Nichols.

For 25 years she worked as a bookkeeper for Jonesboro Lumber Co. and was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church in Goobertown.

She loved oil painting, quilting and writing. Mrs. Blankenship was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her three sons, Bob Blankenship of Jonesboro, Marty Blankenship and Phillip Blankenship, both of Paragould; three daughters, Diane Bonds of Cherokee Village, Sandra Blankenship of Paragould and Patty Brooks of Caraway; six granddaughters, Tracy White, Terrie Ponder, Becky Blankenship, Brandy Bowman, Mary Beth McCorkle, Kristin Moss; and her grandsons, Scott Hall, Joey Blankenship, J.J. Blankenship, Keith Blankenship, Chris Blankenship, Shane Maynard, Brad Blankenship and Josh McCorkle; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Gambill of Jonesboro and Mildred Hamilton of Ventura, Calif.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Blankenship.

A celebration of her life was held in New Antioch Baptist Church at Goobertown with the Rev. Larry Ring and the Rev. Leonard Lingenfelter officiating. Burial was in Nettleton Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons and to serve as honorary pallbearerswere; Eric Settlemoir, Dan Sims and David Maynard.
