He was a right handed batter and thrower who played the outfield. His career fielding percentage was .979. In 1414 career games he had 5472 at bats getting 1682 hits for a batting average of .307. In addition he had 65 home runs, 874 runs batted in and scored 818 runs. Twice he led the american league in hits (1935 and 1938). He best year was 1935 when he made his only all-star team. During 1935 he had 216 hits, had a batting average of .348, 110 runs batted in, and led the league in hits, doubles, and triples.
