Thomas and Sally came to Newburg twp., Cass Co MI in 1844, by wagon with their family, where Thomas secured 160 acres of land. They built a log house and worked hard clearing the land for farming.
Thomas and Sally raised their family, and lived there, where Thomas died on his homestead November
26 1863.

WILL OF REAL AND PERSONAL ESTATE
NOVEMBER 25 1863
THOMAS POUND

In the name of God I Thomas Pound of the township of Newburg, in the county of Cass and the state of Michigan , of the age of fifty two years, and being of sound mind and memory, do make public and declare this my last will and testament in manors following, that is to say.
FIRST I give and bequeath to my wife Sally Ann Pound to be used and enjoyed by her as long as she remains my widow during the term of her natural life, and immediately after her decease, I give and devise her dowry to my sons, Joseph and Daniel H. Pound their heirs and assign forever all that trace or parcel of land lying and being located in the township of Newburg and county hear afore said described as sections to wit. The west half of the northwest quarter of section number twenty five (25) containing 15 acres, and the northeast quarter of the of the northeast quarter of section in township number six (6) containing forty acres and the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter of section number twenty three (23) containing forty acres more or less.
All the above described lands being located in township (6) south of range number (15) west together with the herald instructions and of appertain these unto belonging or in any since appertaining.
SECOND I give and bequeath to my wife Sally Ann Pound the following described personal estate to wit. One team of horses, harness and the farming utensils, five cows and forty sheep.
THIRD I give and devise to my son Isaac S Pound and my daughter Sarah M. McKee to there heirs and assign forever the following described real estate to wit. lying and being in state in the state and county afore said, known as the west half of the northeast quarter of section number thirty six (36) in township number six, south of range number thirteen west containing eighty acres more or less, together with all the herald instructions and appertain there unto belonging or in any since appertaining, to be divided equally between them.
FORTH I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah M. McKee the following described personal estate to wit. One yoke of six year old cattle.
In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and soul this twenty fifth day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and sixty three.
