Man Injured by explosion of Fuel Dies

WINONA--James Leland Overstreet, 33, farmer of the Zilpha community near Vaiden died in a local hospital of burns he received Dec. 22 when a can of tractor fuel he mistook for Kerosene exploded while he was attempting to make a fire.

His wife also was badly burned, but was saved from worse injury by the quick action of one of her young sons, who wrapped a quilt around her body & smothered the flames.

Funeral services will be held from the Pine Bluff Church Sunday morning & interment will follow in the church cem. with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangement.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Etta Williams Overstreet; 3 sons, James, Jean & William Overstreet; parents, W.M. & Mrs. Elizabeth Overstreet, of Vaiden; 1 brother, Shelton Overstreet, of Vaiden; 1 sister, Mrs. Grace Woodson of Kosciusko
