Max Ray Adams

Services for Max Ray Adams, 78, of Greenwood, who died of heart failure Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams was the former superintendent of Staplcotn Warehouse. A native of Scott's Hill, Tenn., he was a cotton warehouse supervisor for Navy Yard Compress in Memphis prior to moving to Greenwood. He retired from Freeman Gin in 1989. He also was a cattle farmer.

He was a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in West Memphis, Ark. He was a former Exchange Club member in Greenwood.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Caffey Adams of Greenwood; a sister, Vernell Buck of Scott's Hill; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dr. Rusty Douglas will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Winona.

Pallbearers will be Jim Caffey, Thomas Caffey, Jackie Caffey, Al Dotson, Kenny Brantley, Jerry Caffey.

Visitation will be at 5 tonight at the funeral home.
