There were originally three children, but an eight year old girl who for nearly 50 years was known only as "Little Miss 1565" was identified in 1991 as Eleanor Emily Cook, exhumed and reburied next to her younger brother Edward (another fire victim) in Center Cemetery, Southampton, Massachusetts. The inscription reads: "This plot of Ground consecrated by the City of Hartford as a Resting Place for three adults and three children who lost their lives in the Circus Fire.July 6, 1944. ĘTheir identity known but to God."
