US Congressman. Elected to represent Missouri's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1977 to 1987. A Democrat, he also served as a member of the Missouri State House of Representatives from 1957 to 1963, Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Missouri in 1960 and 1964, and as a member of the Missouri State Senate from 1963 to 1977. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. He passed away away in Creve Coeur, Missouri, from liver disease. (bio by: K)
