GALENA, Kan.- James Ernest Wilson, 67 years old, 406 Bellevue street, died about midnight last night in the state sanatorium at Norton, Kan., where he had been a patient five months. He had been ill about a year.

Born in Fort Scott, Mr. Wilson came to Galena with his parents when a small child and had resided here approximately 65 years. He was a retired miner and had engaged in the truck hauling business the last few years. He was a member of the Assembly of God church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Emma Wilson; three sons, James Wilson of East Rutherford, N. J., William Wilson of the Bronx, N. Y.; and Clifford Wilson of Lakewood, Calif.; four daughters, all residing in California; two sisters, Mrs. Nina Walker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Pearl Keelin of Mesa, Ariz., and 11 grandchildren.

A hearse of the Derfelt funeral home has gone to Norton to return the body to Galena for funeral services and burial.

GALENA, Kan. — Mrs. Emma L. Wilson, 80, formerly of 405 Bellview Ave., Galena, who resided in a local nursing home, died at 1 a.m. Monday at Baxter Memorial Hospital, Baxter Springs, Kan., where she was admitted at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Joplin Feb. 11, 1890, and had resided in Galena most of her life. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Holt and Mrs. Opal Wammack, both of Galena, and Mrs. Frieda Wommack, Yuma, Ariz.; four sons, Ocie Watson, Grove, Okla., Clarence Watson, Manhattan, Kan., Robert Watson Galena, and James Henderson, Norwalk, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Corvey, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, with the Rev. Dow Booe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Holt, 17th Street and Water Avenue, and will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Glen Wammack, Stanley Green, Rex Gandy, Roe Bates and Buck Vanderpool.

Burns Are Fatal
To Miami Writer,
J. R. Henderson, 71.


Burns received by J. R. Henderson, 71-year-old Miami writer, on July 3, proved fatal at 10:30 o’clock Monday night at the home of his sister, Mrs. Alma E. Henderson, 1402 Fourth avenue northwest.

When the kerosene lamp by which he was reading exploded at his home, 14 G street southwest, more than two weeks ago, Henderson suffered severe second degree burns covering one-third of his body. He was taken to the home of his sister, where he remained until his death.

Surviving besides his sister is a son, Pvt. James R. (Tuffy) Henderson, Jr., with the U. S. Army combat engineers at Camp Van Dorn, Miss.; a brother, A. J. Henderson of Los Angeles, Calif., and a grandson.

Private Henderson was at his father’s bedside when he died.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cooper chapel with the Rev. Bessie Franc Brown, pastor of the Miami Friends church, officiating. Burial will be in the G. A. R. cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Berkshire, W. P. Day, June Walker, John W. Boyd, Ray Ireland and John Feen.
