Jacob William "Will" Garner, born in Burleson Co., TX - Son of Jacob Harmon and Minerva Virginia Jackson.

Brother of Virginia M "Jennie" and Rachel Emma Garner.

Half-Brother of Andrew Houston, Arthur, Leonard Claiborne Isaac, Mary, Joseph Harmon "Joe", Boyd Edward "Edd", Annie Maud and Eva Lee Garner.

Will married, 15 May 1898, Fannie Lou Bonds, a daughter of John H Bonds and Lillian Clement.

Will and Fannie had no children.

Grandson of Isaac Garner Sr and Mary Ann Decker.

Will died in Rockdale, Milam Co., TX.
GARNER, Jacob William of Rockdale. Age 90 on 11/15. Died 11/6/1959 (Friday) after an illness of 2 mos. Services held (Sunday) at Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Rockdale. Rev. Robert A. Greaves, pastor of St. Johns Methodist officiated, assisted by Rev. M.M. Fulmer, pastor of First Baptist Church.

He was BORN 11/15/1869 in Burleson Co. and at age of 3 yrs. his family moved to Salty Comm. where his father engaged in farming. Attended Salty school and high school education from the nearby towns. In 1890 he began teaching in the old Millerton School which was located near the present site of Alcoa Works. Attended Southwestern Univ. in Georgetown and in 1896 was admitted to the bar, returning to Rockdale where he was in partnership with the late George C. Clement. Practiced law in Rockdale for 57 yrs. retiring at age of 86. Director of the Thorndale State Bank since 1910 and president of the bank for 32 years. President of the old First National Bank of Rockdale until it closed and president of Scarbrough and Hicks Co. which was destroyed by fire. He served a 10-year term as Rockdale City Attorney, on City Council and Rockdale School Board. Married Fannie Lou Bonds who preceded him in death in 1954.

SURVIVORS: Sister, Mrs. Rachel Jennings of Abilene and a number of nieces and nephews.
