DESSIE JOHNSON RITES THURSDAY
Dessie Mae Johnson, 87 of La Plata, died Tuesday at the La Plata Nursing Home where she had resided since February, 1969.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Pollock Funeral Chapel in La Plata and burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
The daughter of Abraham and Angeline (Hodges) Gross, Mrs. Johnson was born June 22, 1888 in Macon County and had been a lifelong resident of the La Plata area. She was married Sept. 16, 1903 in La Plata to James Ed Johnson, who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1970. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the La Plata Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Louise Smith of La Plata; two sons, James Lloyd Johnson of Burlington, Iowa, and Ed Junior Johnson of La Plata; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Johnson had been preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
