Grace, as she was known, was the ninth of ten children of John Cummins Reid and Catherine B. Davidson Reid. The family immigrated from Aberdeen, Scotland to Dell Rapids in 1883.

They moved to Lambertville, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey in 1895. Grace worked in a rubber mill in her youth.

Grace married LeRoy Stout about 1914.

She gave birth to LeRoy R. Jr. in 1915, Douglas P. in 1917 and Mabel C. in 1918. She named her daughter after her older sister.

Grace lost her son Douglas at the tail end of World War II when his jeep hit a land mine in Germany.

She had two known grandchildren and nine other known descendants as of early 2009.

Besides Lambertville, Grace also lived in Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey and New Hope, Bucks Co., Pennsylvania.

Thanks so much to Russ Pickett, who graciously transferred this memorial and offered a much better gravestone photo.

I would be more than happy to transfer this memorial to a closer family member. Please click on my name, below, to email me.
