FINAL RITES HELD FOR ED ABRAHAM
Final rites for Edward Abraham, a resident of the Wheaton area since 1902, were held at the Ave Maria Catholic church at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17 with Father Richard Wey, officiating.
Edward Emil Abraham was born December 5, 1898 in Waseca County, son of the late Herman and Elizabeth Abraham. He grew to manhood on the Abraham family farm near Lake Traverse. He was united in marriage to Mary [Mayme] McElwain. to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters. They are Doris [Mrs. Clarence Johnson], Encino, CA; Vincent; Margaret [Mrs. Dale Sax], Wheaton; Marie [Mrs. Arthur Olson], Big Lake, MN; James, US Navy aboard the Renshow DD499; and David, Rockford, MN. All survive him. He also had one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Esther McElwain, Max and Ernest Abraham, Wheaton, Arthur Abraham, Dent, MN; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ed farmed in the Wheaton area until he retired from the farm in 1955. He was then employed at the Farmers Coop Elevator and as a carpenter for some years. He also did some farm work.
Pallbearers were Howard Wohlenhaus, Lyle Wohlenhaus, Carl Nachtigal, Lowell Issendorf, Francis Mord and Arlo Stange. Internment took place in Wildwood cemetery.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Hormann, his father Herman in 1957, and his mother Elizabeth in 1966.
Ed became ill suddenly on June 8 with an aneurysm. He was taken from Wheaton by Chandler Air Ambulance on June 10 to the University Hospital in Minneapolis, where he underwent surgery on arrival. He passed away early on Friday morning June 13. Wheaton Gazette.
