She was salutatorian of the 1918 class at Covington High School. She was a former resident of Covington for many years. She was employed in the ladies department of Sprague's Ben Franklin for many years. She lived in Tucson, Arizona from 1944 to 1946, returning to Covington in 1947. She was the owner and operator of the Trojan store from 1947-1953 when she moved to Lafayette. She was head cook at the Pythian Home from 1958 to 1962. She also was a cook at a resident hall at Purdue. She was a practical nurse in several home in Lafayette. She had been a patient at Woodland Manor since September 1973.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Past Worthy Matron and a 50-year member of Troy Chapter #145, Order of Eastern Star. She was a former member of DAR, Pythian Sisters, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving, are: two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Wertz, Williamsport, Mrs. Lyle B. (Barbara) Tracy, Madeira Beach, Florida; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald; three sisters; and one brother.
Funeral services will at noon (Friday) at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services." – Star Tribune, Attica, Indiana, November 26, 1991
