Daniel B. Keach was born on April 11, 1843 at Stephentown, New York in Rensselaer County, the son of Henry W. Keach and Lucy (Hall) Keach. Henry was born on __________ __, 18__ at Providence, Rhode Island, while Lucy was born on __________ __, 18__, most likely in Stephentown, New York, but possibly Massachusetts.

The Keach family moved west from New York sometime between 1857/58 and the summer of 1860. At the time of the 1850 census of Peoria County, in September of 1850, the Keach family is found in what is called Peoria Township;

The internet site civilwarprisoners.com lists Private Daniel Keach as having been held at least for some time in the infamous prison at Andersonville, Georgia. If he was there, he wasn't there very long as in May of 1865, the prisoners at Andersonville were liberated.
Sergeant Daniel C. Keach was soon on his way north and on June 24, 1865, Sergeant Daniel C. Keach was mustered out of the service at Springfield, Illinois. By the end of June Sergeant Keach was most likely back with his family in Peoria County.

Daniel was married about 1899 to Amelia H. Watt in ___________ County, __________. Amelia was born on November __, 1870 at __________, __________, the daughter of William W. Watt and Elizabeth (__________) Watt. Both William and Elizabeth are believed to have been born in Scotland.

At the time of the 1900 census, Daniel and Amelia reside at 209 Behrends in Peoria, Illinois;

When the last 86th Illinois reunion was held in 1923, Daniel B. Keach was one of only 22 veterans of the 86th to make the reunion. His mailing address at the time was 209 Behrends Avenue in Peoria, Illinois.
Daniel B. Keach died on December 10, 1928 at Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois and his earthly remains were laid to rest in the Prospect Cemetery near Dunlap, Illinois on December 12, 1928. Amelia H. (Watt) Keach died on __________ __, 1953 at __________, __________. Her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Prospect Cemetery near Dunlap, Illinois as well.
