Mary Grantham was born in Mississippi, the daughter of Thomas A. and Lydia Alice Grantham. On May 15, 1833, at age 13, she married Jonathan Joshua Garrett (1792-1881), who farmed. They had 15 children (5 boys and 10 girls). She lived in Mississippi all of her life, and died there in 1905.
